I have a crawlspace with a partial wood foundation. The wood foundation is on bedrock. We get seepage here. I was going to put drain pipe(4" big O)at the foundation and rock surface. Can I put a sheet of poly down on the ground just for the winter, and do the foundation after the winter? Is this effective or would I just be wasting my time?
Answer:
The poly will certainly keep the water from evaporating up into the house but it will do that without going to the expense of the drainage tile too. I'd probably install a sump pump where water collects naturally, add the poly and leave it at that.
