Question:

My 40-year-old home had an unfinished basement. I have just finished the walls with painted drywall and would like your help with suggestions regarding the ceiling and floor. What are the modern alternatives for finishing the ceiling. Do you have a favourite method?

Answer:

Although there are numerous systems on the market, my fovourite for a basement, because the ceiling height is only 7'3", remains covering up all light fixtures and water shut-off valves and the like and then spraying it all with a primer paint followed by at least one coat of finishing paint.
