Even with vapour barrier, plastic, vents etc. I anticipate I may have to do something further to increase air movement. I think the air movement around the cottage is restricted some and therefore may not easily move through the vents etc. I am thinking of installing a fan with duct to take the air off the lowest point of the floor and either exhaust it and/or pipe it away from the fan 5 to 8 feet in the crawl space. I would then run this fan most of the time. One suggestion made to me is put is on a timer and run it 8 to 10 hours every day.
Answer:
If you need to augment air movement, your idea should work but if the cycle is going to be that long, why not make it a bit longer - set it to work from 9to9 - off during the heat of the day and working during the night when outside air has less moisture that inside air.
