Question:

I am thinking of buying some land and building a 2-storey house. I don't need a basement and I would be trying to keep construction costs down. My question is, could it be built on a concrete slab or do I need a crawl-space? I have heard of problems arising from crawl-spaces and would try to avoid them if possible.

Answer:

Depending on where you live, a slab can cause all kinds of heating problems but a crawl space, properly insulated and heated is a far better system than a basement if you have the land space.
