Question:

I have an eleven year old house that was built in a swampy area with a block basement. In the summer on a hot humid day the humidity in the basement can be so high that the carpet feels damp, clothes left in basement feel damp, also the concrete floor in the laundry room gets a damp look going from light gray to dark gray in colour. My humidifier doesn't even put a dent in it along with my air exchanger running. Some people have suggested if I put a gas fireplace in the basement and on humid days leave the fireplace on low heat and that will take the dampness out. I heard you talk about a product before on your radio show called non-condensing dehumidifier, how do I get information on this and is it a good product. Are there any other suggestions you have for me?

Answer:

It is a good product and your local lumber yard should be able to put you on the right track to it.
