Last fall I purchased a home and completely renovated the basement. The grading around the home was the reverse of what it should have been and the downspouts were off and frozen into the ice. I fixed the drainage and I got flooded big time right through the floor. My inexperienced guess would be a ground water problem where the water table rises and enters the homes at the footing or any other small crack that may exist. The options are many, in your expert opinion, what can be done?
Answer:
You have little choice but to install more than adequate drainage along the footings (2 runs of 6" big O) to keep water from getting to underneath the slab.
