Question:

We have a 4 foot high crawl space that runs the entire length of our house. Is it possible to convert this to basement space? What would be the approximate cost of such an endeavor?

Answer:

Yes it is possible but rather than taking the chance of digging it deeper, I'd prefer to raise the building to accomodate the extra depth. This is a job for professionals and you'll find them in just about every community. I don't know where you're located so cost estimation is quite beyond my abilities.
