I was wondering how to fasten a non-load bearing wall frame to a cement slab. I know there are special "guns" that shoot nails into the cement but I was hoping there was something less involved. I recall seeing someome hammer the bottom 2x4 into the concrete with a hammer and concrete nails. Is that acceptable still?
Answer:
Actually, a 2X4 is less than 1.5" thick and you can buy 1.5" concrete nails. Drive them in so the head is well sunken into the 2X4 and it will hold. You're interested only in lateral movement (I hope) and this looks after that quite well.
