Question:

Can you underpin a foundation under a three-brick thick wall? Is it cheaper to dig out your basement (size 16 X 22) 2 feet deeper and raise your attic roof or to add on a 2 story addition with a basement (size 14 X 16).

Answer:

The foundation can be underpinned and I would never dare dig a basement deeper. I would far rather do the addition or raise the whole structure to make the basement deeper.
