I did look at the archive but did not see my question directly. I am selling my home, a perspective buyer's inspector noted some mould on drywall in the finished basement (split level). He thinks it could be a drainage problem, but I've never had water in the basement. What do you think is causing the mold(only the last 4 inches) and how can I clean it? He suggests I do a weepage test with a qualified contr. and now I have this "black mark" on my house that I need to address.
Answer:
Perhaps the buyer's inspector could be a bit more specific. You don't have to have a leaky basement to develop mould down there. A lack of ventilation will also do it too.
