Question:

My husband and I would like to have some sort of finish with a shine on the deck but would prefer not to change the colour drastically. I know that with cedar we don't really have to seal it at all but we think it would look a little more finished if it had a coat of something on it. Is there any product suitable to put on the deck that will give a shine without really changing the colour of the wood? How should it be applied and how often?

Answer:

I don't know where you're located so all I can advise is that you check with your local paint store and they'll be able to recommend a finish to you. Yes, such finishes do exist and yes, they are more work.
