I am in the process of repainting wooden walls in my rec room and I have some concerns before starting this task. Can you please tell me whether I need to: a)sand them first for better adhesion of the new paint, or b)use only a cleaner to clean them? Also, as we're planning on using a slighter lighter tint of paint, do we need to use a primer coat prior to the actual painting?
Answer:
I'd certainly clean them off before priming but cleaning does not have to include anything more than what it takes to neutralize the various body oils and such on the exisiting paint.
