We are having new PT wood steps installed on our front porch. Is it better to paint this with porch paint or stain them? If we use a stain,can we still put the silica sand on to prevent slipping or do we need it at all?

If you're going to paint wooden steps you'll be wise to add the sand. I don't know that stain would hold it as well.
