Question:

We are doing a kitchen remodel and opening up the existing kitchen so it is part of the living room/dining area and so we are trying to match the existing oak hard woods. I noticed that you have mentioned to a few people that they should make sure that the installer climatizes the wood first, but I did not see a recommendation for how long. Is it a matter of days or weeks? Also, any other recommendations to make sure that the new hardwoods match the existing?

Answer:

The wood should be in the house unwrapped at least a week before installation - the longer the better. You may not be able to colour match the existing flooring.

In the interests of retaining credibility and in fairness to all, I cannot recommend prices, people nor companies for various projects.
