Question:

I purchased an older home last year and lifted the carpets to find very nice oak flooring, 1 3/4 inch wide X 3/8 inch thick. However the hallway and livingroom areas have approx 250 screws in the flooring (put in by previous owner to control the squeaking I am assuming). What would you recommend to fill the holes ?? I would really love to save these floors !!

Answer:

If you like the rest of the floor you'll be better off to replace the boards with screw holes. Filling them means unsightly patches throughout the area. While you have it all apart, make sure the sub-flooring is properly attached before adding the new.

In the interests of retaining credibility and in fairness to all, I cannot recommend prices, people nor companies for various projects.
