Top > Wood > Counter

Question:

My husband and I are putting in a new kitchen. We would like a wood countertop. As the cupboards are cream, we are looking at a darker colour of wood and would like to explore perhaps different types of hardwood. Where do we start?

Answer:

You might have a bit of a problem here because maple is the only wood that doesn't have a food taste transfer as far as I know. I'd look though, at a hardwood flooring company that handles exotic woods and they might be able to come up with something for you.

Remember, even if you don’t do your own work around the house have to hire someone, you put yourself at a great advantage when you can intelligently discuss a project with the various trades people.
