Question:

we just finished installing 300 square feet of used 3/4 inch maple flooring, 3 and a quarter inch wide. we ripped out the the peel&stick tiles and covered the floor with 6 mil fir underlayment. the floor looks great, i want to know if we did the right thing peeling off the old tiles? was it necesary?

Answer:

The old tile had to come off and I think would also have removed the old underlayment before applying the hardwood.
