Question:

We just surrounded our bathtub and a portion of the wall with red cedar and would like to know what the best thing would be to protect it from water.

Answer:

Actually, you cannot protect wood from water because it expands and contracts with temperature change and with atmospheric humidity change so no matter what you put on it, with expansion/contraction it opens up the seams and becomes somewhat of a sponge.
