Question:

We are having a new home built and have been given the choice of using 2X10 solid wood joist or truss joists pre engineered floor system. Which is recommended and why?

Answer:

I'll go for the latter every time but, I want them spaced the same as the 2X10 were scheduled for. The sub-flooring will have been manufactured for 16" O.C. and will deflect if you go the extra couple of inches.
