Just want to start by saying I love your radio program. I listen to it on 650NTR out of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
We built a new house in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan last Summer with a pressure treated deck. This weekend I'm building a fence with all of the lumber being pressure treated. (I like the stuff!) My question is do I need to treat it with anything or can I just leave it as is? I have been told you don't have to stain it but after a year you should put on a water seal product. Is this true or can I just leave it as-is? The less maintenance the better!
Answer:
Treating it with anything will not add to its longevity but I know of people who treat PT lumber to discourage it from cracking and splintering. I've never treated anything I've done with it and it seems to be lasting quite well.
