I've just had an addition put on to my home. Consequently, the one side of my yard was sand and weeds in the fall and will be again in the spring. What is the process of revitalizing that area? How do I get rid of the weeds, how much soil do I put down and then is there a high grade grass seed to use? Plus when will I see results?
Answer:
My first move would be to dig up the area to a depth of not less than ten inches and make sure you have a lot of peatmoss in the end result. Grading against the house should slope at least ten iches in the first five feet so that a year hence, it compresses to about half that. Your local nursery will be able to suggest a hardy grass seed to you.
