I just recently bought a woodstove and I am wondering if I can use the ashes to fertilise my lawn. Also can I use sawdust for the same purpose.
Answer:
In given situations you can use both but separately. If your soil needs more acid, I think you can use the ashes but I'd want to know the ph of the soil before doing that. Your local nursery should be able to help here. The sawdust has too much tanic acid for most plants so be careful with it. Again, your local nursery should be able to advise you on how to modify it to gain from it.
