For the past three years I have had a bat perched on my porch ceiling during the late spring, summer and early fall nights. In the morning I find my visitor's excrements. I have tried everything, with little success.

Answer:

The local Humane Society will be able to give you at least two or three bat association names locally and they'll be able to improve on my primitive (but effective) solution to your problem. I suggest you apply window screen (temporarily) to the ceiling the little critter uses and as an alternative, build and install a bat shelter within as few feet from that location as you can. They don't like the screen and they do very much appreciate the shelters I am told.
