Birds are making their nest in the bathroom vent, which is on the second floor. It is too high for me to reach from the outside and, because the vent and the fan are not connected in a straight line ( at 90 degrees ) I can’t reach it from the inside either. Beside blocking the ventilation, does leaving it as it is (there is a window in the bathroom) cause any damage to the house?
Answer:
You don't want them there. The best way to keep them out is to remove the nest (a shop vac does a good job)and then you can buy a screen that is made to fit over the wall plate. These things are easy to install and you only have to do it once.
