I am curious what your feelings are about having the water that is regenerated from a water softening system going into a septic system. Will this water damage the tank or system in any way? I have heard stories.
Answer:
That's a lot of water going into a container that often already needs bacterial action promoted. My fear is that waste will putrefy and turn into sludge rather than breaking down. You also have to take into consideration that some municipalities insist that the water be added to the septic. I don't know, of course, how many of the decision makers live with septic systems. I believe these decisions are made by committees and that's a bit scary too. My dad used to say that giraffes and camels are but horses - designed by committees.
