Question:

My husband and I are going to have hardwood floors installed in our living room and hallway within the next couple of months. These are high traffic areas and we have a large dog and a four year old and I am concerned with the floor getting scratched up. Is hardwood a bad idea? What do you suggest? Would a laminate be better?

Answer:

With a large dog around, no matter what hard surface you put in there its going to get scratched. The four-year-old will be a teenager before you have to start worrying about the floor but the dog starts doing damage as soon as it starts to run.
