While visiting family over the holidays my daughter put a pad on her table top while ironing and then laid the iron on the pad flat not on its heel and now the stain. not sure if tabletop is wood or veneer.

Spread a bit of rubbing alcohol on it with a soft cloth and then turn the hair dryer to it. You’ll find that it just blows away like magic whether you say abra cadabra or not. If that doesn’t work, forget the abra cadabra and set your iron to ‘wool’, place a paper towel over the stain and iron it out. Don’t leave the iron on for any more than two seconds at a time so you don’t damage things. You may have to repeat several times.
