I've removed the paint on a 2' diameter single pedestal low table. The top is a veneer of what I would call "figured mahogany. Its now drying out and I notice some faint oblong purple marks. Would this be part of the figured mahoghany? It doesn't line up with the growth rings in the wood but there seems to be evenly matched 3 oblong purple marks matched on both sides of the table. If I put a mahoghany stain on the table will it hide these purple marks?
Answer:
A good stain should cover them but this is normally associated with a water soaking so be careful with it.
