We have a brick bungalow with a fireplace and a bird has nested and hatched chicks in the brick chimney. How can I get them out without harming them? I know we need to get a screen or chimney hood next year to prevent this, but in the meantime should we just leave them there till they fly away? We'd prefer not to have to hire someone to get the next out.

You may have to hire someone anyway because I doubt tha the fledglings will be able to climb out of the chimeny.
