Question:

Had white vinyl siding installed a week ago. And four days ago the neighbor had her back section of her roof sprayed which I presume is some type of tar material. I inquired if any overspray would get on my siding and was assured that it wouldn't. Went out later in the day and there are specks of the black on the siding. The firm that did her work seems to be one of those fly by night people. I got the phone number from her (which is a cell number) and left a message of course they didn't reply so I called again and the person said they would come and remove the specks with bug and tar remover in the next couple of days. If they show up? Should I be concerened that they will ruin the finish and make it worse or let it be and have her pay a portion of the cost of the siding.

Answer:

The complete cost should be covered by the offending neighbour who can then claim it from the company that did the work. I'd want to see the information the manufacturer of the cleaning agent suggests because in many cases I've seen, an oil neutralizing product had been used and yes, it blew away the finish on the siding.
