Was considering replacing a rented natural gas hot water tank with a so-called tankless water heater, viz. However, some local companies that I have asked do not recommend it, nor want to install it, and others claim they are good only for cottages. Two decades ago I lived with one in the Netherlands for 11 years. It never failed and provided all the hot water I needed, when I needed it. What's the problem with these devices in this country? Are they approved for regular home use in Ontario?
Answer:
If they were only good for cottages I don't think they'd be gaining popularity the way they are. I too, was reluctant to accept them and then found that other countries where electrical power is much more expensive than here are using them with total satisfaction. We may have tradesmen who aren't as familiar with them as they might be and others who find it hard to think outside the 'box'. I have yet to hear a complaint about them.
