I own a 4 unit in the Glebe part of Ottawa (ON). The soils are mostly clay and it appears that the clay has somewhat dried out under neath a 70 yr old stone foundation upon which rests 2.5 floors of brick walls. The brick has craqued all the way to the top and the foundation (stone) has some cracks along with shfiting of the floor. There is no water infiltration. Whom should I consult on this ?
Answer:
The first person you'll contact with be a structural engineer and talk to him about 'underpinning' the foundation walls.
