Our two year old brick bungalow has a crack from the top of the bricks and travels down through the parging. It crosses through one window and continues on down to the edge of the second. A window that is about 15 feet away has also cracked. After freaking out what should we do?
Answer:
Check the inside of the basement wall to see if the crack continues down to the footings. If it does, look for its mate - concrete doesn't bend so there would have to be another one somewhere. Now its time to call in a mason to analyse the whole thing. If it does not continue down the foundation wall, leave it alone because patching it will only make it stand out more and the bricks don't have anything to do with structural integrity so why bother.
