Question:

I have heard you mention a home made patio door "bar", but I must have missed the building instructions. Can you tell me how to build, fasten and operate this security bar.

Answer:

To build your own, you simply mount a U-shaped bracket half way up the patio door jamb and use that to hold a pivoting bar long enough to reach from the bracket to the back edge of the mobile panel of the door. You may have to install a small block on that edge to keep the bar from falling down. Once its there, there is no way of sliding the door open.
