Question:

I have to replace the window in the front door of our house. The door is steel insulated with side lites. The gentlemen that sold us the window said it was easy to replace, just remove the old one and set in the new. When I removed the new window from its package I noticed a small portion of the sealant that goes around the outside frame of the window that goes against the door was missing. What could I use to fix this? The window has a special design on it and is hard to find.

Answer:

If I'm picturing this right, that gap will be covered by trim and could well be there to allow for a certain amount of expansion/contraction in reaction to temperature change. Go ahead and install just the way you planned.
