I have vinyl clad windows in my home with typical thermo pains (no argon gas etc.) I have been cursed with several thermo pains which seem to fail long before the warranty date. It is great that they are covered by the warranty but the need to replace them is a nuisance. Is is possible to purchase reliable thermo pains that are problem free for 10, 15 or 20 years and if so how much do they cost (percentage wise) over typical thermo pains.
Answer:
If the windows are properly installed, I've seen them last longer than that but any stress on that seal between the glazings and failure seems to be assured. It seems to me that if the fastners are limited to the sides of the windows, they last longer but that could be just the way it seems. You might try to find a 'SAWDAC' dealer in your area and discuss it with them.
