Question:

The deadbolt on my front door is very tough to lock/unlock in the cold weather. To lock/unlock you really have to pull the door tight. It works fine as long as the temperature outside is above -20. What can I do to have the door lock/unlock as easily in cold weather as it does in warmer weather?

Answer:

First of all, give it a shot of silicone spray lubricant and then its a matter of how much condensation is building up inside the wall cavity behind the doorjambs. To clear this up, the door will have to be de-installed and addressed from there.
