We are looking at all vinyl double hung windows for the upstairs but leaving the interior wood casing, for the basement we're thinking all vinyl single sliders. Some of the upstairs windows have a mildew problem and their aluminum storms don't prevent moisture from getting through in the winter. Do you recommend low e-argon? We want to make sure we get the right product for the job. This fall we will buy an air exchanger for the house. It is a 47 year old 2 story in Nepean, Ontario.
Answer:
I don't know that a 47-year-old house needs more air exchange than it already has. Practical approach to me is more important than technicalities and I guess that's why I deal with given suppliers. After that comes aesthetics which is something you have to discuss with whoever is supplying material and labour.
