I have read all the info you have about condensation on windows. I have a new house with low-e argon (solar gain) windows/doors. This past winter I got 2-3" of ice/snow buildup along the bottom as well as up the frame of window. I got a rep out & he told me too much humidity in house & new construction (problem will go away after 2 yrs) - I got my HRV running constantly (at high speed when really bad), ceiling fans running & I cannot reduce my HR below 34 (I understand that I need to achieve an HR reading of 20-25 in extreme temp - impossible !! I believe that I have poor working windows and made a huge mistake purhasing this type of window-I should have spent the extra money and got triple pane-do you agree? What is your opinion of this type of window? I live in Thunder Bay where the temp can drop as low as 40 below in the winter.
Answer:
I don't think you'd do better with tripple glazing because during the first couple of winters most of the water that went into building the house has to evaporate and then it migrates toward heat. That is why you have that much condensation. I have no opinion on the windows you have as I don't comment on brands or companies if at all possible.
