Have an old stone home (1835) and would like to put shutters on the front windows. Don't want to have to take them off every few years to paint, but want them to suit the house. Any idea what I should be looking for?

Answer:

The aluminum ones seem to hold up very well indeed. I've had them on a building for over 20 years and have never had to maintain them in any way.
