Question:

I have a below-grade basement entrance with concrete steps and walls and a drain in the bottom. We don't use it very often so I would like to build a cover for the whole thing to keep the snow and rain out. I would like to put a hinged door in the cover - perhaps with a hydraulic mechanism.

Answer:

Sounds like a great idea and a fun project but make sure you allow for some form of ventilation.
