I have a 3 year old home. The outside door on the side of the house facing south is freezing shut during the late afternoon when the sun goes down (it does not have a large overhang protecting it). I actually have to physically go outside and push it open from the outside. Is there anything that I can do to stop this? This is the first year it has happened and occurs regularly.
Answer:
Correcting this will mean taking off the trim and removing the door jambs so you can insulate and vapour barrier the area keeping condensation from taking place. You might be able to do this from just the inside but don't be surprised if that doesn't work for long.
