Question:

My front door has a glass side panel on the lock side and every winter when the weather gets cold some shifting appears to happen making the locking of the door very difficult. The colder it gets the harder it is to lock it. When the warm weather comes, the problem goes away. Any suggestions how to solve this problem?

Answer:

You appear to have a doorsill that is quite sensitive to frost. You'll have to stabilize it and then seal the front edge to keep moisture from getting in underneath it. Its that moisture that freezes and heaves it.
