What would be the best way to remove the backing from indoor/outdoor carpeting that has adhered to the old linoleum floor tiles underneath. Do I have to scrape it off, or is there a simpler way to do it?

The easiest way is to apply wallpaper removing compound to it and then just scrape it off with a 3' putty knife.
