I am remodeling the master bedroom. The addition was put on 40 or so yr. Ago. I removed the window trim and found it was slats and not frame construction. I didn't see any insulation (the windows are new but poorly installed and leak terribly, the walls aren't bad). Do I pull the drywall, insulate and add vapor barrier? Or leave it and insulate from the outside when I put the new siding on leaving it without vapor barrier?
Answer:
This depends very much on the siding you'll be applying. If it happens to be either the mortarless brick or vinyl or some such, I'd rather insulate on the outside.
