I live on a bus route. I have a large fixed front vinyl clad aluminium window (heat mirror system)48X98 with a slant on the top due to a cathedral ceiling. (new in 1992).In the past few months there has been excessive sweating and fogging on the outside. The maker is out of business. I have been told the seal is gone. Do I get it repaired with new glass or should I get a new window? What kind is best where there are vibrations, and west and north west winds? Which kind would withstand the elements and vibrations - wood, vinyl or aluminium?
Answer:
You might be better off to replace with one that is segmented. Most widnows on the market nowadays are good products and success with them depends more on installation than it does no the manufacturer's reputation. So you have a choice to make but I don't think the 98" width is going to be kind to you when it comes to repair.
