I am in the process of finishing a basement bathroom and have used metal studs to frame the outside walls against the foundation. I am not sure if I should use metal electrical boxes or plastic ones and would also like to know what the best method is to mount them to the metal stud and any other info on safety when dealing with metal studs? I am very handy with plumbing and wiring but have never done so with metal studs.
Answer:
Metal studs are not hard to deal with. All you have to remember is that the skill saw gets a holiday. Your local electrical authority will tell you exactly how to go about attaching the boxes. Some jurisdictions demand one form and others another so you must be compatible with thier system.
