I'm planning on building a "vestibule" my garage, to act as a small mudroom and closet area. The space will be about 5' x 6' and it will be located directly adjacent to the door leading into the kitchen. It will be insulated, but I'm not quite sure about heating this space. I suppose I could install a small electric space heater or some type of baseboard heater, but I'm worried about the safety of such heaters. Could I run a duct from my furnace and just push warm air in there, while providing a cold air return? What is your opinion? The garage itself is not heated.
Thanks in advance,

Answer:
The return air duct is going to be very important and I'd go for it. You shouldn't have a mudroom without heat because then it's a bit like outside and not everyone will use it.
