Yesterday while watching tv..the power went out on the outlet. Since there is a second outlet feeding off this one in my living room I thought that the outlet was gone since the house was built in 1972. I went to the store and they said yes that the outlet was gone and that the power would still feed the scond outlet in the house. I replaced the outlet with the same kind 125 v and this did not solve the problem.With the new outlet there is still power going to the second outlet and it still has power. My question is what could be the problem?...I checked the connections and they seem fine and the ground also.

You may have to check the other recepticles on that same circuit breaker because only by going back toward source will you credibly determine which component is giving you the problem.
