I am renovating my basement and just had an electrician come to the basment and fix all the wiring. The main power box is in one of the bedrooms. I am thinking of making a big walk-in closet inside this bedroom. So inside this big walk in closet (roughly 5'x10') I am planning to have on the side of the wall the main power box. Should I go ahead with the plan or are there any rules that I must know and follow first?

In most jurisdictions there is no problem with having a hydro panel in a closet as long as it is readily accessible. You might check with your local building authority (city hall).
